Installing Prairie View
- Download the latest installer; take a look at the release notes in the meantime
- Close any open instances of Prairie View, as well as anything else that may be open in the 'C:\Program Files\Prairie' directory; the installer will let you know if something is left open
- Run the installer and follow the on screen instructions
- Your previous version of Prairie View will be accessible via the 'C:\Program Files\Prairie X.X.X.X' directory, where X.X.X.X is the version number
Firmware Updates
After running Prairie View for the first time after upgrading there may be one or more warnings, or errors if the updates are critical, mentioning any newly available firmware updates. Prairie View can update the firmware for most devices by selecting the 'About...' dialog option under the 'Tools' menu, and pressing the 'Update' button for a specific device.
In some cases Prairie View is unable to update firmware and requires some manual intervention, most commonly a temporary cabling change. In those cases no 'Update' button will be available someone from Bruker will need to help with the update.
Special Hardware Considerations
- Systems configured for FLIM may need to update the FLIM drivers to work with the new Prairie View version; if FLIM breaks after updating, try running 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\Becker-Hickl FLIM Driver\tcspc_setup_64.exe'
- Systems configured to use an SLM may need to update the SLM drivers to work with the new Prairie View version; if the SLM fails to work after an upgrade, try running the Overdrive SDK installer found in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\SLM'
- Systems configured to use an automated Zeiss microscope may need to update the Zeiss MTB software to work with the new Prairie View version; if microscope control fails after upgrading, try running 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\Zeiss MTB RDK\setup.exe'
What's New?
The help file, accessed by selecting 'User's Manual...' from the 'Help' menu, contains an exhaustive listing of all the changes made in the current version in a page titled 'What's New'. The page is split up into sections for new features and bug fixes as well as separate sections for service updates. Under the 'What's New' section of the help files are subsections for previous versions for anyone jumping multiple versions at once.
