4.x Installation Instructions (Legacy)
Before Upgrading
- Be sure to close the current version of Prairie View.
- Make sure the current version of Prairie View is running from 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\' to ensure the most recent configuration files and settings are used during the upgrade; this is the version that the configuration files and settings will be copied from.
The quickest way to verify this is to right click the 'Prairie View' shortcut on the desktop and select 'Properties...'. In the window that pops up look at the 'Target' field to see that it matches the aforementioned path, if it doesn't press the 'Find Target...' button and rename the folder accordingly. It may be necessary to rename the existing 'Prairie' folder if it already exists; the convention is to append the Prairie View version number contained in the folder to the end of the folder name, for example 'Prairie x.x.x.x'.
Installing Prairie View
- Run the appropriate installer; instructions and download links are located to the right.
After running the installer the new version will be located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\' and the old version(s) will be located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\'. If for whatever reason it is necessary to manually copy configuration files and settings from a different location/version, a comprehensive list of those files is as follows:
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\Prairie View\Configuration Files\
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\TriggerSync.ini
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\TriggerSyncSettings.prm
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\SpotCalibration\
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\LinescanViewer.ini
- C:\Program Files\Prairie x.x.x.x\motorcfg.cfg
- Run the 'Prairie Config Utility' located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\' and then exit making sure to click the 'Yes' button when prompted to save the changes. Sometimes the configuration files need to be changed so that the new version of Prairie View can read them. Skipping this step can result in errors loading Prairie View and/or unpredictable behavior.
- If upgrading from version 4.3.2.14 or earlier, install the SlimDX Runtime located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\SlimDX\'. The only file in the folder is the installer.
- If upgrading from version 4.1.x or earlier, install the General Standards drivers, located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\General Standards Corporation\14HSAI4\', by running 'SETUP.EXE'.
- If upgrading from version 4.0.x or earlier, install the Becker-Hickl drivers, located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\Becker-Hickl FLIM Driver\', by running 'tcspc_setup_32.exe'. There are images illustrating which options to select in a folder called 'Screen Shots'. After the install is finished there is a new version of SPCImage available in a compressed folder named 'SPCImage338.zip', extract these files to 'C:\Program Files\BH\SPCImage\' overwriting the existing files.
- If upgrading from version 4.0.x or earlier, install the Nikon TI control software, located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\Nikon Eclipse Ti\Ti Control w32\w32\', by running 'setup.exe'.
- If upgrading from version 4.0.x or earlier, install the Nikon TI SDK, located in 'C:\Program Files\Prairie\Prairie View\Support Files\Nikon Eclipse Ti\Ti SDK\NikonTiSDK_423572_32bit\Nikon_TiSDK_40203_32bit\', by running 'NikonTiSDK_w32.msi'.
- If upgrading from from any version prior to and NOT including 4.0.x install version 3.0 of the Prairie Driver DVD. The DVD is usually mailed due to its size, but the files are also available for download here (note that the files will need to be burned to a DVD before installing).
